The Whole Truth About Blackheads

Article by John Wellington

Acne is the most common condition that doctors treat on a daily basis. It can effect anyone from teenagers to people in their older years, and can be caused by many factors. There are also many specific types of acne. One very common type is the blackhead. Blackheads are considered “open comedones”, and whiteheads are “closed comedones”. These usually show up primarily on the nose, chin or forehead but can also be on other parts of the face. Either can cause your skin to be undesirably rough and bumpy.

Blackheads are one of the few types of acne that may be caused by skin hygiene and will never go away on their own. Cleaning your face regularly will prevent most blackheads altogether. They are caused by follicles that have a wider opening than normal. These openings fill with oil and dead cells that have undergone a chemical reaction that caused the oxidation of melanin, which causes the black coloration. To prevent them from forming, it is necessary to consistently wash your face twice a day with a mild soap or face scrub to get rid of the excess oil and dead cells.

Like all of the other forms of acne, there is no one thing that causes back acne. As far as the medical community stands, back acne also happens when oil glands start functioning more rapidly around puberty. The hormone group androgens, found in both females and males, get overactive which in turn causes a reaction in the oil glands, which make extra oil. The oil glands are located just underneath the skin surface.

Oil glands constantly are producing and secreting oil through the pores in the skin. When too much of the oils are produced the pores and hair follicles become clogged. The clogs obstruct the way that dead cells escape the skin, which in turn results in a mess of oil and dead cells plugging the hair follicle. This attracts bacterium, which causes the acne to be formed.

If you’ve ever had acne, or even if you have it right now, then I don’t have to got into detail to describe how absolutely horrible it is. What’s even worse, you can get these things called blackheads which can be absolutely horrifying in that they look like tiny clods of dirt of your face, despite the reality of the situation being completely different. If you’d like to learn a couple of decent blackhead removal methods, then there are some things you should be careful of.

One of the first things to understand is that despite seemingly showing up overnight, blackheads actually take a while to form. They are made the same way regular pimples are, but with one small difference. The bottom of the whole structure is open, so the top part becomes oxidizes, that is it mixes with air and has a chemical reaction that gives it that black color. It doesn’t have anything to do with the dirt.

Hey well i have a skin problem. I’m not exactly ugly, but my bad skin detracts from the rest of my face. I have little tiny, coarse bumps around my nose and in between my eyebrows, bumps under the skin pretty much everywhere (they aren’t red, don’t turn into pimples and aren’t blackheads), i have small red pimples on my chin and eyebrows, i have humungous pores and my face is pretty blothchy.

i use a cleanser, toner and oil free moisturiser twice daily. the only face makeup i wear is tinted spot cream. i use an exfoliant twice a week and tea tree oil every night.
